Consultation has concluded
Council has previously resolved to support and place on public exhibition a proposal from Harbourside Police to establish an Alcohol Free Zone each year from 8am on 31 December until 6am on 1 January on Bradleys Head Road south of the intersection with Whiting Beach Road to the entrance of the Bradleys Head National Park and continuing down Athol Wharf Road to the Taronga Zoo Wharf.
The proposal is aimed to assist the NSW Police in enforcing the prohibition of alcohol in Bradleys Head National Park, ensuring the safety of visitors viewing the New Years Eve fireworks displays on Sydney Harbour and to curb antisocial behaviour in the area.
Council has implemented the above alcohol free restrictions for the last eight years. The current declaration has expired. Council is seeking to extend the restriction for another four years. Any declaration of an Alcohol Free Zone by Council would be for a maximum of four years expiring on 1 January 2027 after which Council would review the matter.
