Council has received verbal and written complaints from residents regarding traffic matters on Hamlet Lane. These submission relate primarily to the following road safety issues:
The laneway has no footpath and is unsafe for the high volume of pedestrians that it caters to
The laneway experiences too much traffic attempting to bypass Military Road
The laneway is too narrow to effectively facilitate two-way traffic movements, resulting in conflicts and altercations between drivers
Council staff have commenced an investigation into these concerns.
The Local Traffic Committee at its meeting of 4 May 2021 considered a report on Hamlet Lane Traffic Management and resolved that community consultation be carried out on the following options:
1. A "One-Way" restriction along Hamlet Lane from Shadforth Street to Raglan Street (opposite travel direction to Carney Lane).
2. Do nothing.
Further, a section for community comments be allowed in the survey.
3. Written submissions should be addressed to Mosman Council, PO Box 211, SPIT JUNCTION NSW 2088.
It is expected that the results of this community consultation will be reported to the next available Local Traffic Committee meeting.
